Milton Edward Helton, Sr., 71, of 1017 Lincoln Ave., was called home Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Salem Health & Rehabilitation Center in Salem.
He was born September 7, 1941 Covington, a son of the late Robert and Mary Pollard Helton.
Mr. Helton was formerly employed at Covington Baptist Church as a custodian. He retired form the US Forrest Service and was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. He attended the former Watson High School in Covington and he was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one half sister, Mary Loving Halsey; one sister, Fannie Helton Wright one bother, Joseph Helton .
On November 22, 1965 he married the late Carolyn Brown Helton and together they had three children, Milton E. Helton, Jr,. and Troy Helton , Sr., both of Covington ; one daughter, Sonja Helton of Plymouth NC; seven grandchildren, LaTasha, Michael, Dwayne all of North Carolina; Trevon, Troy Jr., Zana and Elaishia all of Covington; three great grandchildren, Latrell ,Say-quan and Michael, Jr., all of North Carolina ; three brothers, Alfred Helton and his wife Glenda and Harry Helton and wife, Joyce, all of Covington and Fred Helton of Florida; one brother in-law, Rodney Brown and his wife Ann of Clifton Forge ; a special friend Thelma Halsey of Covington and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
