Lonnie Glenn May, Jr., 70, of 7112 Johnson Creek Road died Saturday night, October 4, 2008, at his home. Mr. May was born September 18, 1938, in Alleghany County a son of Mary Meadwos May of Covington and the late Lonnie G. May, Sr. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War with the United States Navy and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He had retired as an equipment operator with Branch Highways. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Southall, and by a great granddaughter, Lakin Brown. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 46 years, Ruby Wolfe May, of Covington; his Son, Lonnie G. May, III, and his wife, Kellie, of Covington; his Daughter, Karen Hall and her husband, Gary, of White Sulphur Springs, WV; four grandchildren, Timothy Hyler, Jr. and Katrina Hyler, both of Roanoke and Ethan May anad Lucas May, both of Covington; two great grandchildren; one sister, Christine Martin and her husband, Donald, of Paint Bank; three brothers and sisters-in-law; Burton and Wanda May of Hot Springs, Johnny and Joyce May and Mike and alice May all of Covington and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held this afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. Interment was made in the Johnson Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Billy Wayne Brown, David Meadows, Jr., Norman Kimberlin, Jr., J. C. Hall, Dwayne Martin, Billy Groves, Johnny Groves and Jacob Forney. The family will received their friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations in Mr. May's name be made to the Dunlap Rescue Squad. T
