RICHARD HAWKINSON Richard Allen Hawkinson, 71, of 307 Woodland Road, died, Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his residence. He was born November 13, 1936 at Brainerd , Minnesota, a son of the late Bert and Hazel Paulson Hawkinson. Mr. Hawkinson served with the United States Army. He was a member of the Alleghany County Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Anderson Hawkinson in 2006 and also by a brother, Jerry Hawkinson. Surviving are his step-son Richard Warren and his wife Pam of Clifton Forge; one son, Gregory Hawkinson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; several grandchildren, including Lisa Gilbert of Clifton Forge; Richard Warren, Jr. of Richmond; Loveda Warren of Charlotte, NC; Jessie Berry of and Ethan Berry, both of Clifton Forge; one brother, Don Hawkinson of Melbourne, Florida; one sister, Lois Gents of Harleton, Texas and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mr. Hawkinson's wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. William M. Hartsfield officiating. Friends may pay their respects at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends at the home of Richard and Pam Warren at 1326 Grace Ave., Clifton Forge.
