Carol Lowery Schumaker, 80, of 5810 Dunlap Creek Rd., died, Saturday September 7, 2019 in the Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. She was born December 29, 1938 in Alleghany County the daughter of the late Frank and Hazel Richmond Lowery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Henry L. Schumaker in 2017. Carol retired after 20 years of service as a Clerk of Commissions for Alleghany County. She was a member of Palestine Chapel Church and the women of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #610. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy McDowell and husband Ronnie of Covington, two grandchildren Kim McClung and husband Michael of Covington and Jacob McDowell of Stuart Draft, three great grandchildren Adalee, Mahaley, and Jordyn Paige McClung all of Covington, a sister Jean Linwood King of Eagle Rock, a brother Gary Hankins and wife Denise of Cookeville, TN, a special friend Ethel Smith, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Nicely officiating. Interment will be made in Palestine Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive their friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
