On May 13, 2010 , Mrs. Jessie M. Spurlock exchanged places between earth and Glory. She was the first of three children born to Walter I and Artiff Bibby man of February 25, 1918. Jessie Accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, becoming a lifetime member of Pine Street Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Deaconess and in recent years as Mother of the Church. Jesse has been shepherded and visited by her church family and ministers, even during her declining years in Richmond. She was a native of Covington, VA where she attended Watson High School. She was married to George Preston Spurlock, Jr. for 61 years and this union as blessed with two children, a daughter, Janne Claudette Clark and Dr. George P. Spurlock, III. She was gainfully employed as a domestic engineer. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, George Preston Spurlock, Jr., a sister, Dr. laura M. Hines; son in law, James Y randolph, Jr.; and a grandson, James Y. Randolph, III . A host of aunts, uncles, cousin, nieces, nephews, parents , friends and neighbors await her at the heavenly gates. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted son, daughter, George P. Spurlock III and his wife, Barbie ; a daughter, Claudette Clark and her husband, William; brother, Walter Irving Mann and his wife, Marion; grandchldren; Javette Uddin and Mirzah; Jill Watson and Thurston; Nicholas Spurlock; George Spurlock ; Danielle Spurlock and Shanda Spurlock; great grandchldren, Summayyah Uddin; Hebah Uddin and Sahnoon Uddin; Tyler Watson and Ashie Watson; two new golden friends,Olga Jones and Evelyn Bates and host of Friends, relatives, neighbors and her beloved Pine Street Baptist Church family.
