RUBY HELEMS
Ruby Tingler Dunn Helems, 95, died, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Carrington Place in Daleville.
She was born April 28, 1916 in Paint Bank, a daughter of the late Robert C. and Mabel Morrison Tingler.
Mrs. Helems was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp. in Covington. During her lifetime she was a great seamstress, making lots of beautiful handmade quilts, clothing and many other things until her eyes began to fail and she had to discontinue the pasttime she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first Husband,Howard Dunn ; her second husband, Mearl Helems; three sisters, Beatrice Armentrout, Jane Tingler and Bernice Bostic and two brothers, Parker Tingler, Sr., and Francis (Buddy) Tingler.
Surviving are two stepchildren, Mearl D. Helems, Jr. and his wife, Sue, of New Castle and Ann Helems Zimmerman and her husband, Gale, of Roanoke; four step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren, one sister, Caroline Day and her husband, Harold of New Castle and numerous nieces and nephews.
After marrying Mearl, Ruby was surrounded by grandchildren she had not had the opportunity to experience since she had no children of her own. Ruby was blessed with a long productive life with friends whom she remembered fondly after moving to Carrington Place for the last several years.
The family would like to thank all the nursing staff and Dr. Nevin at Carringotn Place for the care and kindness shown to Ruby over the last several years.
