James Paul Jamison, 86, of 1303 W. Jackson St., died, Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital. Mr. Jamison was born on March 25, 1936, in Alleghany County a son of the late George Vernor and Jessie Claire Humphries Jamison. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Wife of 63 years Laura Jean McDonald Jamison in March; two sisters Rosemary Jamison Wilson and Charlotte Bowen Wright; three brothers George Jamison, David "Davy" Jamison, and John Bowen. He served his country in the United States Army and was a machine operator at the former Hercules/ AET plant. He enjoyed taking walks and gardening as well as being an avid outdoorsman. He loved his grand dogs. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. He is survived by his daughter Cecilia Ann Jamison; two sons James Paul Jamison Jr. and wife Karen and David Lee Jamison and Regina Hinkle; two grandchildren Ashley Jamison and Heather Jamison; two great grandchildren Sahmeah Jamison and Parker Jamison; his grand dog Litl Dog; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorial donations in Mr. Jamisons name be made to the Alleghany Humane Society at 9313 Rich Patch Rd. Covington, VA 24426. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
