ALEXANDER TYLER Alexander William Tyler, 88, of 318 South Marion Avenue died this morning, May 19, 2010, in the Golden Living Center at Clifton Forge. Mr. Tyler was born November 15, 1921, in Clifton Forge a son of the late Milton and Nannie Johnson Tyler. He had retired from MeadWestvaco as a truck driver in 1984 after 39 years with the company. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church where he had served on the Trustee Board and the Usher Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Jane Wallace Tyler in 2008. Surviving are his Son, Alexander W. "Butch" Tyler, Jr. and his Wife, Elvira, of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Brandon Tyler and Rachel Tyler, both of Porstmouth; two Brothers and Sisters-in-law, John and Rose Tyler of Wichita, KS, and Freddie and Frances Tyler of Goochland; one Sister, Edro Tyler of Washington, DC, and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park. Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and online guest registration is available at arrittfuneralhome.com.
