Thelma Thompson Thelma Meadows Thompson, 90, of 1105 Brookhaven Drive, died, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born February 20, 1923 in Hinton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Willie G. and Daisy May Allen Meadows. Mrs. Thompson retired as a guard from the Alderson Federal Prison in Alderson, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband. Clarence Canterbury and her second husband, Melvin Thompson. Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. Canterbury, Sr. of Covington and Gerald Ray Canterbury of North Ridgeville, OH ; 8 grandchildren; a number great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Meadows and his wife, Shirley of Hinton, WV; three sisters, Bobbi Farley and her husband Norman of Hinton, WV; Patsy Turner and her husband Melvin of Hinton, WV and Jen Hancock of Cleveland, OH and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Thompson's body has been cremated. Memorial Information The family suggests that memorial donations my be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in care of Jerry Canterbury, 417 Nickel Creek Circle, Durham, NC 27713.
