Charles William Pettigrew, 67, of 8212 Dunlap Creek Road, died, Sunday, July 13, 2008 at his residence.
He was born May 19, 1941 at Organ Cave, a son of Violet Miller Pettigrew of Alderson, WV and the late Dyer Pettigrew.
Charlie was graduate of Bluefield State Collage at Bluefiled, WV was formerly employed by the Department of the Navy. He retired in 2000 from MeadWestvaco as a Maintenance Foreman. After retirement he was employed part-time by Fisher Auto Parts and also by MeadWestvaco.
He was a member of the West Virginia Athletic Club and was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer Fan. He was a member of the Wolfe Creek Baptist Church in Alderson, WV.
In addition to his father, Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Brain W. Pettigrew in January, 2001.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sally Goodall Pettigrew of Covington; two daughters and sons - in-law, Karen and Andy Cash and Trish and Todd Cline, all of Covington; five grandchildren, Lake Cline of Covington; Brandon Pettigrew and Corey Pettigrew both of Goldsboro, NC; Meghan Cash and Macyn Cash, both of Covington; two brothers, Robert Pettigrew of White Sulphur Springs, WV and Danny Pettigrew and his wife Thelia of Bristol, TN ; one sister, Carol Miller and her husband, Ward of Goldboro, NC; brother-in-law, Donald and Peggy Goodall of Union, WV and Betty O'Brien and Linda Arbaugh , both of Ronceverte, WV ; a special friend , Johnny Davis of Covington and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mr. Pettigrew's wishes, his body has been cremated.
The memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Wednesday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Dillon officiating. Following the funeral service the family will receive their friends at the funeral home.
