Carter David Wickline, 17, of 1714 Forrest Hill Ave., Clifton Forge, died on September 3, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Wickline was born on July 26, 2005, in Lexington a son of Chad D. Wickline and Jessica Burks Pullin.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather David Wickline; maternal grandparents Ben and Isabelle Schumaker; his great grandparents Jake and Mary E. Snyder; and his uncle David B. Wickline.
He was a member of the Alleghany High School Class of 2023 as well as the Captain of the Alleghany High School Golf Team. He was a member of the Selma Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family and his friends.
In addition to his mother and father he is survived by his stepmother, Christy Wickline; his mother’s boyfriend, Richie Smith; his stepfather, Patrick Pullin; three brothers, Maddox Wickline, Burke Pullin, and Talan McGann; one sister, Kierstin Mundy all of Clifton Forge; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Teresa Lee and L.C. and Jill Burks; two paternal grandmothers, Marylin Wickline and Patricia Tucker; maternal great grandparents, Gene and Nancy Meadows.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday September 8, 2022, at 2:00 in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Chris Fisher officiating assisted by Pastor William Keene. The interment will follow in Wickline Cemetery.
The family will receive their friend on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
The pallbearers will be Patrick Pullin, Dickie Conner, Talan McGann, Dalton Griffith, Maddox Wickline, Will Carter, Chad Wickline and Payton Meadows. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Alleghany High School Golf Team.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Carter’s name to the Alleghany High School Golf Team; please address checks to Alleghany High School; put Golf Team in memo and mail to Alleghany High School Attn: Devone Bess at 210 Mountaineer Dr., Covington, VA 24426.

In an effort to allow the entire community to gather as they are comfortable, alternative livestream viewing sites will be set up at First Christian Church, 231 E. Fudge St., in Covington and Central United Methodist Church, 414 Main St., in Clifton Forge.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
