Patricia Ann Pleasant, 75, of Covington,VA transitioned on Wednesday January 9, 2019. She fought the good fight, but submitted to the Master's call at the LewisGale Medical Center in Roanoke, VA Born in Covington, VA on February 6,1943, to the late William Frank Pleasant and Frances Elizabeth Reid Pleasant, she was one of seven children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Edgar Paul Pleasant, James K.P. Pleasant, Thomas Lee Pleasant, and Robert Henry Pleasant. She graduated from Watson High School the class 1960 in Covington, VA. She attended St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA and Radford University in Radford, VA. She returned to Covington to teach and was affectionately called Ms. P. by many students. She impacted their lives as a teacher and librarian for over 40 years in the Alleghany County Public School system. She was a dedicated volunteer of the Total You After School Program, where she read stories, mentored and supported the many children who attended. She was a faithful member of the Granberry Memorial United Methodist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, Rebecca Miller (Irir) of Richmond, VA; Alberta Pleasant, Covington, VA; Betty Smith, Raleigh, NC; one devoted goddaughter Shanetta McWhorter, Canton, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of Life for Ms. Pleasant will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Granberry Memorial United Methodist Church, by Elder Gregory P. Moore. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, VA. The family will receive their friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Arritt Funeral Home.
