Raymond Arthur "Boodie" McKnight, 23, of 303 South Marion Avenue died Monday, February 12, 2018, at Lewis Gale - Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. McKnight was born November 21, 1994, in Alleghany County a son of Kathy M. Harris of Covington and the late Raymond Tyrone McKnight. In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Warren F. Harris, Sr., and his Paternal Grandparents, Willie J. and Gertrude Bell McKnight and three Uncles, Randall McKnight, Sr., Lewis P. Venable, Jr. and Gregory Waddy Sr. He was a graduate of Covington High School where he was a member of the band and choir. He was employed by Jackson River Enterprises. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Boodie never met a stranger and was well known and loved within the community. He loved his family. He was the only grandchild privileged to call his "Gammy" Helen as well as calling his mom Kathy Harris! The love of his life was his nephew Harris. He loved to hold and cuddle him "every day" Surviving in addition to his Mother are his Maternal Grandmother, Helen C. Harris, of Covington; one Brother, Franklin McKnight, of Covington; four Sisters, Kristine Harris of Roanoke, Ramanda McKnight of Roanoke, Kindra McKnight of Raleigh, NC and Kara McKnight of Covington; one Aunt, Laura Waddy, of Roanoke; two Uncles, Warren Harris, Jr., of Greenville, NC and Willie McKnight and his Wife, Myra, of Clifton Forge; one great aunt, Mrs, Trevor Harris of Cleveland, Ohio; Paw Paw "Tee" Clark who taught him how to cuss; five nieces and nephews, Teandra Davis, Tenashia McKnight , Tavien Holloway, Tyion Holloway and Harris Brown ;cousins, Nikki Coles Jones and family; Stefanee Waddy and daughters; Gregory Waddy II; Terri McKnight and children; Marlon McKnight and family; Mark, Randall and Christopher McKnight and families; extended family, Cathy Carroll, Gale Washington, Sue Venable, George and Clarice Halsey and Gay and Gary Twitty. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 12:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Willie Cannon, Jr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. Preston Tyler and Rev. Doug Hollenbeck. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gee Waddy, Lewis P. Venable III, Darren L. Venable, Willie Blakey, Tommy Smith, Orlando J. Clark, Sr., and Matthew Lindsay. The family will receive their friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at First Baptist Church.
