JACK MILLER Jack Dempsey Miller, 84, of 1005 Little Catawba Creek Rd, Troutville, died, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton. He was born September 28, 1926 in Alleghany County, a son of the late James Clark and Nancy Miller. Jack served with the United States Army during World War II. Mr. He retired as a Machine Operator from Valley Steel in Salem and he was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Vonda Gallew Miller in 1988 ; a daughter, Laurie Ann Miller ; two brothers, Clayton Miller and Allen Miller and two sisters, Georgia Clark and Rosa Murphy. Surviving are his daughter and son in law, Vicki and Larry Smith of Troutville; a granddaughter, Serenity Dawn and several nieces and nephews and special friends. The interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with graveside rites being conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, VFW.
