John Henry Ferrell, 57, of 826 Long Avenue went from his home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, November 4, 2019. He was born August 17, 1962, in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Henry and Ann Shirkey Ferrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandfather who raised him, Raymond Underwood, and a sister, Phyllis Greenfield. He was the former pastor of the Covington Wesleyan Church and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He had coached the Callaghan girls basketball and football teams and had served as an assistant coach for the Covington High School girls basketball team. Surviving are his Wife of 36 years, Susan Ailstock Ferrell, of Covington; three Daughters and Sons-in-law, Jessica and James Carroll of Buena Vista, Brandy and Kirk Marcus and Jaimie and Ricky Craft, all of Covington; six grandsons three of whom he called his sons,Dakota Byer and Desiree Mason, Jordan Marcus and Cheyenne Sweeney, Johnathan Fortescue, Noah Carroll, Hunter Craft and Levi Craft; three granddaughters, Heaven Lee Fortescue and Monroe Lee, Madison Carroll and Montana Marcus; a piece of his heart, his great grandson, Kingston Lee Henry Byer; his Brother and Sister-in-law, Mike and Velda Ferrell, of Covington and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 5:00 PM in the Good News Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Steve Noel officiating assisted by Jody Kitts. The family will receive their friends for one hour before service time at the church. Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
