James William "Jimmy" Burrell, 68, of 1110 Richmond Street, Selma, died Wednesday January 10, 2018, in Hopewell VA after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Burrell was born May 7, 1949, in Greenbrier County, WV, to the late Robert Lee and Ella Elizabeth Henson Burrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Brother, Randy Lee Burrell and a Brother-in-law, Buford Bennett. "Jimmy" was a former member of the Virginia National Guard. He also retired in 2009 as a brakeman/conductor with CSX Railroad after 30 years of service where he was a brakeman/conductor. Surviving are his Daughter, Stephanie Paytas, of Charleston, WV; his Brother, Robert Burrell of Covington; his Sister, Arlene Bennett, of Hopewell and several nieces and nephews and many great friends. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home at 5:00 PM with the Rev. Bobby McClintic officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home. Entombment will be made in the Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Hopewell on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
