David Carl Thompson Sr., 50, of Covington, died Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Thompson was born October 11, 1969, in Alleghany County, the son of James Lawrence Thompson Jr. and Brenda Fridley Thompson of Covington. David was employed as a truck driver and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all he enjoyed "hanging out" with his sons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four sons, David Thompson Jr., of Clifton Forge, Austin Thompson and Adam Thompson both of Covington, and Aaron Thompson of Low Moor, two grandchildren Grayson Thompson and Rowen Thompson; two brothers ,James Thompson, III of Summerville, SC, and Chris Thompson of Covington, a sister, Kimberly Thompson, of North Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 7, 2020, at 2:00PM at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating.
