Darrell Lee Walker, Sr, 76, of 410 Corner Drive, died, Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born June 11, 1932 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, a son of the late George R. and Tilda Wheeling Walker. Mr. Walker retired from Hercules, Inc. in 1992 and from AET, Inc. in 1999 as a Film Operator. He served with the United States Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Surviving are is wife of 57 years, Georgia McClung Walker of Covington; two sons, Darrell "Dusty Walker , Jr. of Covington; James Walker and his wife, Karen of Midlothian; two daughters, Cheryl Chaney and her husband, Mike of Chesterfield and Michele McClellan and her husband, Chris of Roanoke; seven grandchildren, Shane and Lindsey Burnette ; Brian Burnette; Erin Chaney; Kelley Chaney, Nathan McClellan; Emily McClellan; Allyson McClellan ;one great grandson, Brady Burnette; one brother, Basil Walker and his wife, Pat of Bedford ; five sisters, Lucille Shannon and her husband, Glen of Rainelle; Louise Bragg and Beatrice Dorsey of Nettie, WV; Helen Bivens and her husband, Lee of Georgia and Hilda Copen and her husband Gary of Bell Glade, FL and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Price officiating. The interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park Friends may pay thier respects anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial Information The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Mr. Walker's name to the American Cancer Society; Karen Buzzard, 807 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Froge, VA 24422 or to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund, 311 Jackson Drive, Covington, VA 24426.
