DORIS SIMMONS Doris Hepler Simmons, of 1151 Stuple Lane died Saturday night, December 6, 2008. Mrs. Simmons was born April 15, 1924, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late H.M."Matt" Hepler and Virgie Terry Hepler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Raynelle Detamore, and also by three infant sisters. Surviving are her Daughter and son-in-law, Doris Ann and Harvey Thompson of Covington; her Son, Richard Simmons and Joy Robertson of Covington; three granddaughters; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Acosta of Covington and Bonnie Burrows and her husband, Jack, of Jacksonville, NC; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Christine Hepler, Freddie and Ellen Hepler, and Carlos and Ruth Hepler, all of Covington, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service. Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends for one hour prior to the service at Arritt Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence of Richard Simmons at 1137 Stuple Lane, in Covington. Memorial Information The family suggests that donations in Mrs. Simmons' name be made to the League of Older Americans Meals on Wheels Program.
