Wesley Emit Whanger, 83, formerly of Covington, died, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Johnson Wills Hospital at Midlothian , VA.
He was born November 14, 1924 at Hematite , the son of the late Leighton E. Whanger and Violet Siverly Whanger Morris.
Mr. Whanger served with the United States Navy during World War II. He retired as a retired as a self employed welder.
He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Ethel Smith Whanger in 2003.
In keeping with Mr. Whanger's wishes his body has been cremated.
Surviving are his daughter Wanda Johnson of Colonial Heights; his son, Emmett W. Whanger and his wife Lynn of Goshen; two grandchildren, Angel Hall and Wesley Markwayne Whanger; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Virgina Smith; Violet Hall, Jean Ross and June Martin, all of Covington and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
