DOROTHY VASS Dorothy Webb Vass, 74, of 722 North Greenbrier Avenue, died, Friday evening, November 21, 2008, in the Brian Center Nursing Care at Fincastle. She was born November 4, 1934, at Callaghan in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Jesse and Annie Honaker Webb. She was raised in the Callaghan area. Mrs. Vass retired in 1987 as a clerk for Boys Home, Inc, after 10 years of employment. Surviving are her husband, Lindsay Vass, of Covington; one daughter and son in law, Linda and Jerry Fountain of Nobleton, FL; two sons and a daughter in law, Kenneth and Debbie Paxton of Navarre, FL, and Douglas Paxton of Troutville; one step daughter, Linda Cartwright and her husband, Garth, of Covington; ten grandchildren, Noelle Saraceni, Jessica Brown; Christopher Saraceni; Chastity Farmer; Michael Paxton; John Paxton; Amber Paxton; Alex Paxton; Lindsay Cartwright and Melanie Cartwright; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Winston Webb and his wife, Ina, of Richmond and Randolph Webb of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Bill Gilliland officiating. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.
