Shirley Zerbey Bates, 54, of 3520 Kanawha Trail, died, Wednesday February 18, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 17, 196,1 in Riverside, NJ, a daughter of VanNetta Breward Zerbey Duckett of Henderson, NC, and the late Russell Zerby, Sr. Mrs. Bates was employed at Boys Home, Inc., for the past 15 years and was currently serving as the Administrative Assistant for Program. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her Husband, Ryland Lanier Bates of Covington; two Sons, Gabriel Tuono of Philadelphia and Dr. Albert Tuono of Newport; one Daughter, Sabrina Trout, of Covington; three Step-daughters, Tabitha Plymale of Salem, Melissa Bates of Hampton and Marie Lawhorn of Covington; two Step-sons, Jason Bates of Hampton and Ryland Lanier Plymale of Covington; one Brother, Russell Zerby, Jr. of Delanco, NJ, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Connie Gilman officiating. Interment will be made in the Sweet Chalybeate Cemetery.
