Garlen Harry "Monk" Snyder, 78, formerly of Lost City, WV, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Covington. Mr. Snyder was born October 10, 1939, in Alleghany County a son of the late Harry C. and Frances McDaniel Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arlen Snyder, two sisters, Charlotte Redman and Evelyn Wright, and one half-sister, Goldie Montgomery. He had retired from Rocko Processing and also worked as a carpenter and had enjoyed fishing and hunting his entire life. Surviving are two Sisters, Margaret Harmon and Husband, Wayne, of Covington and Hazel Crawley of Salem; his Sister-in-law, Pat Snyder; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Tammy Perkins and husband Chad, of Covington and several great nieces and nephews In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. The family suggests that donations in Mr. Snyder's name be made to Mountain Regional Hospice; P.O.Box 637; Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
