Priscilla Mahaney Carter, 82, of 1510 W. Jackson St., died, Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Mrs. Carter was born April 16, 1938, in Craigsville, a daughter of the late Lewis Elliott and Carrie Clark Mahaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby McCoy Carter and brother Ronald "Ronnie" Lewis Mahaney. Priscilla was the Junior Queen of Music in 1950. A graduate of Covington High School in 1955 and was a member of the Beta Club and the Tri-Hi-Y. She also graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College with two Associate of Applied Science degrees in Office Systems Technology and Business Management. She had an extensive work career to include Covington National Bank; First Virginia Bank of Southwest; Bill Wilson, Attorney; Douthat State Park; Virginia Welcome Center; League of Older Americans; and of more recent she worked at the USDA Forest Service and Goodwill through the Senior Community Services Employment. She was a member of the Monacan Indian Nation and of the Grace Brethren Church. Surviving are brother Michael "Mike" Mahaney and wife Trish; her two sons and daughters-in-laws, Bobby McCoy Carter II and wife Shannon of Roanoke and Stephen Vincent Carter and wife Christy of South Boston; her daughter Elizabeth "Charlie" Ott and husband Charles of Livermore, CA; six grandchildren Travis Carter and wife Kaylah, Ryan Wiseman and wife Claire, Tyler Wiseman, Joshua Carter and wife Jennifer, Camryn Carter, Riley Carter, Mitchael McAlister, and Nacole McAlister; two great-grandchildren Zane Carter and Mia Carter. Also, surviving are a niece, nephews, cousins and many other beloved extended family members and friends. In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Priscilla Carter's honor to the American Heart Association at 1-800-242-8721 or https://www.heart.org or the Monacan Indian Nation; PO Box 960; Amherst, VA 24521. Arritt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

My deepest condolences to Brian, Vicki and extended family. Jerry reached out to me when Mom passed (I was going through hell with my current stepdad at that time) He was a beacon of light when I needed it most and we always got along great. Jerry is definitely missed but I’m so glad he was baptized and saved. Love Donna

I grew up with the Bobby, Stuart, and Roy years ago in Iron Gate. They were all good guys. My condolences to all of you who grieve Bobby’s passing. God bless and comfort you all.
