RITA STATON Rita Arritt Staton, 72, of 827 North Rockbridge Avenue died Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Staton was born January 5, 1937, in Covington a daughter of the late Roy and Reva Boone Arritt. She had retired in 1989 as a claims representative with the Social Security Administration in the Roanoke office. She was a member of the McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Women's Circle #1 of the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Arritt. Surviving are her Daughter, Gwynith Wood, of Richmond; two Sons, Alan Staton and Brian Staton, both of Covington; two grandsons, Rusty Wood and Zachary Wood, both of Richmond; one sister, RennaLee Fleshman of Lynchburg; four brothers, Roy U. "Buck" Arritt, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, Reginald Arritt, and Ronald Arritt and his wife, Edith, all of Covington, Raymond "Jaby" Arritt and his wife, Irma, of Richmond and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated and a funeral service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.
