Edward Reese Mills, 86, of 618 N. Beverly Ave. died Monday, November 12, 2018, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Mills was born June 13, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, a son of the late Claude and Lodasca Williams Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Betty Minnick, Mills in 1998 and by a son, Jerry Mills and two daughters, Jean Mills and Joy Mills. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the United States Navy where he served as an electrician on a destroyer. After the war he was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle, WA, making custom dies and tools for the Gemini and Apollo space programs. He was a Las Vegas, NV, resident for 45 years before moving to Virginia to be near his youngest daughter. Surviving are two daughters, Jessie Smith, and her husband, Danny, of Covington and Jane Garwood and Dennis Simon of Las Vegas, NV, two grandchildren, Shaun Garwood and Miranda Taylor. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
