ANNA HAYNES Bettie Nicely "Anna" Haynes, 87, of 106 South Craig Avenue died Sunday morning, May 24, 2009, at the hoame of her daughter, Jean Lindsay, at 1020 Ridge Street. Mrs. Haynes was born January 28, 1922, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Roy Jackson Nicely and Mary Ann Smith Nicely. She was an employee of the former Parr's Drug Store on Main Street and had retired as a clerk with the former M. H. Fishman Store in Covington. She was a longtime member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a beloved Mother who enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers, going to bingo and traveling with her family. She was preceded in death by her Husband, William A. Haynes, in 1986, a grandson , Preston Rucker, Jr., in 1985 and also by four brothers and one sister. Surviving are three Daughters, Jean Lindsay and Betty Rucker and her husband, Preston, all of Covington, and Barbara Day and her husband Perry Day, Jr. of Calabash, NC.; six grandchildren, Jerry Rucker, Debbie Rose, Chris Lindsay, and Lisa Nida, all of Covington, Billy Rucker of Round Hill and Perry Day, III, of Manassas Park; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Spinks of White Sulphur Springs, WV; three brothers, Edward L. "Dick" Nicely of Covington, Gordon "Brud" Nicely of Prince George County; Robert "Bob"Nicely of Chester and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Barry Throckmorton officiating. Friends should assemble at Arritt Funeral Home by 12:30 PM to go to the cemetery. The family will be at the residence of Jean Lindsay at 1020 Ridge Street.
