Charles Harvey Smith, 70, of 700 Mt Pleasant Dr., died, Friday December 10, 2021. Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1951, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Eugene Harvey and Violet Humphries Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ruby Jane Jones; four brothers: Edward Wayne Smith, Russell Eugene Smith, Robert Lee Smith, and Donald Ray Persinger. He was a truck driver for Byer, Harmon, and Johnson. He was baptized and attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by a daughter Angel Tucker and husband David; a son Charles Smith and Amanda Tucker all of Covington; three grandchildren Haylee Tucker and Dawson Tucker of Covington; and Emma Smith of New Bern, NC; two sisters Nancy Colman of Covington and Susan Scruggs of Clifton Forge; a brother Jerry Smith and wife Mary of Clifton Forge; and a number of nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Daisy. The funeral will be held Monday December 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home. The interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
