DOROTHY SMITH Dorothy Benson Smith, 82, of Covington died, Monday, November 07, 2011 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. She was born September 18, 1929 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late Myrtle Cales Benson Lowen. Mrs. Smith was a former employee of CFW Telephone CO and the former Halmode Inc. She was a member of the Covington Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Albert H. Smith in 1998 ; a son, Ronald P. Smith in 1986 and also a brother, Jimmie Benson in 1945 Surviving are a daughter and son in law, Jeannie and Wayne Hayslett of Craigsville; a son and daughter in law, Larry A. Smith and Lynn Murphey of Staunton; four grandchildren, Joshua Smith ; Elizabeth Miller;Tyler Murphey-Smith and Kerry Murphey-Smith; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Lil Moses of Newport News: Bettie Landis and Patty Sellers and her husband Melvin all of Covington and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Covington Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Poluikis officiating. The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.
