Russell Frank Edwards of 1901 Mallow Rd. left this earth to begin his journey with the Lord in Heaven on January 28, 2021. He died peacefully in his home with family by his side. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife Wanda Falls Edwards of 60 years, two daughters Deborah Kidd and fianc J.B. Harlow and Tina Edwards all of Covington, five grand sons David Easton Jr. and Aubri Workman, Daniel Easton and wife Tonya, Jake Horne, Rubin Garza and Corey Edwards, for great grandchildren Zoey Easton, Willow Easton, Parker Easton, and Lucas Easton, two sisters Jeanie Jerman and Dorothy Johnson, and a number of nieces and nephews to include a special niece Sue Woodruff. Mr. Edwards was born October 13, 1936 in Buchanan a son of the late Gordon and Minnie Smith Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only son Gordon Frank Edwards, two sisters Jean Grogan and Cleo Cash, three brothers Carl Smith, Bobby Smith and Elbert Smith. Betty Bates McDaniel Harvey, 91 of Snake Run Road, Covington, VA passed to eternal life in Christ, on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville following a fall at her home. Betty was born on Dec. 29, 1929 in Covington, Virginia to Cecil A. and Bamma Masters Bates. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her six brothers, her first husband William Ernest McDaniel, daughters Sandra Gale McDaniel and Shirley McDaniel Canterbury, son Kenneth Leon McDaniel, and granddaughter Amy Louise McDaniel. Betty was also predeceased by her second husband William Mann, who met and married Betty when she was a young widow raising five small children. Betty is survived by her husband Arnold Harvey, her two sons Don McDaniel (Liz) and Lee McDaniel (Kate), son-in-law Larry Canterbury, step son Lincoln Harvey (Lynn), six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Dorothy (Dot) Stone Kinsey, 102, of Covington, died, Wednesday January 27, 2021 in the Brian Center Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Low Moor. She was born June 25, 1919 in Alleghany Co., she was a daughter of the late Jacob R. Stone and Ada Helmintoller Stone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George Terry Kinsey a daughter in law Bonnie Kinsey, seven brother Lanza Stone, Stewart Stone, Carlos Stone, Kenton Stone, Dayton Stone, Johnnie Stone and Med Stone, five sisters Bertha Holcomb, Reba Miller, Helen Mottern, Ruth Brisendine, and Wilma Buckland. Bertie Givens Persinger, 76, of 6800 Bens Run Rd, died, Tuesday January 26, 2021 in the Brian Center Rehabilitation & Nursing Care in Low Moor. She was born September 21, 1944 in West Virginia a daughter of the late Lonnie and Maybelle Wright Givens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard H. Alta Ruth Hall Wolfe, 83, of 605 East Hemlock Street, died, Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Mrs. Wolfe was born September 2, 1937, in Tazewell County a daughter of the late Melvin and Mildred Hurst Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Floyd Wolfe, a Daughter, Millie Wilson, a brother, James Hall and a great grandson, Bentley Kinser. She had retired as a service clerk at the former Halmode, Inc. plant in Covington and from the Jane Colby plant in Clifton Forge. Roy E "Eddie" Williams, Sr, 92, of Covington died after an extended illness on January 25, 2021 in Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton. Mr. Williams was born September 15, 1928 in Covington, the son of the late John Bert and Beatrice Lula Rusmisel Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Maxine Agnor Williams; brothers Ryland Williams and Lewis Williams. Mr. Edwards was employed with Hammond and Mitchell as an equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and restoring classic vehicles. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Rubin Garza and Cory Edwards, both of Covington; two sisters, Debbie Kidd and her fianc J.B. Joseph Daniel "Danny" Ryder 61, of 301 Wager Lane, died, Monday January 25, 2021 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ryder was born February 3, 1959 in Bath County a son of Nancy Beverage Ryder of Hot Springs and the late Joseph "Joe" Ryder. Danny worked in the Maintenance Department at WestRock. He was attending Faith Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to boat. He was a member of the Wagon Wheel and Warm Springs Mountain Hunting Clubs. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and to say you knew him was to say you loved him. Mr. McAllister was born February 8, 1941, in Alleghany County a son of the late Cecil Rufus McAllister and Marie Brackman McAllister. He had retired as an operator after 41 years with the former Hercules, Inc. He was a longtime member of the Moss Run Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Usher and Trustee. He was born in Monroe County, WV on August 28th, 1958 the son of the late Florence Isabelle Schumaker and step-father Ben T. Schumaker; his biological father Joe B. Wickline. David was a retired employee of Alleghany County Public Works as an equipment operator for 35 years. Heavy equipment was his forte. He was an avid hunter especially bear hunting.
