Jane Adwell
Ruth Jane Adwell Armentrout, passed away peacefully, January 1, 2021. She was born in Caldwell, West Virginia January 27, 1928, a daughter of the late Sylvester Adwell and Naomi Bennett Adwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters and she was the last surviving member of the Adwell siblings. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Winston Kelly Armentrout, a brother-in-law, Norris G. Armentrout and her in-laws, James Robert (Daddy Bob) Armentrout and Anna Kelly Armentrout. Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Bridgett Armentrout-Edwards and husband Matthew L. Edwards. Timothy A. Broce, whom she loved like a son, and his wife Angie Broce and their children. A niece, Robin Armentrout Mason and her children, two nieces and spouses of her sister Anna Vaughn: Carol and Donnie Perdue and Linda and Nicki O'Brien and her best friend Carol Patterson, whom she loved like a sister. Priscilla Mahaney Carter, 82, of 1510 W. Jackson St., died, Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Mrs. Carter was born April 16, 1938, in Craigsville, a daughter of the late Lewis Elliott and Carrie Clark Mahaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby McCoy Carter and brother Ronald "Ronnie" Lewis Mahaney. Priscilla was the Junior Queen of Music in 1950. A graduate of Covington High School in 1955 and was a member of the Beta Club and the Tri-Hi-Y. She also graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College with two Associate of Applied Science degrees in Office Systems Technology and Business Management. She had an extensive work career to include Covington National Bank; First Virginia Bank of Southwest; Bill Wilson, Attorney; Douthat State Park; Virginia Welcome Center; League of Older Americans; and of more recent she worked at the USDA Forest Service and Goodwill through the Senior Community Services Employment. Keith Cordell (Seaweed) Laws, age 60 passed away December 29, 2020, at his residence. Keith was born September 7, 1960 to his parents Kenneth J. and Betty Laws, Sr. He was the eldest of nine children and the tallest as well (6'9"). He was proceeded in death by, Kenneth and Shirley Laws Sr., brother, Kenneth (Buster) Laws Jr., grandparents, James and Bernice Cosby, Elmore and Virginia Laws Sr., Aunt Shirley Smith, Brother-N-Law, Jeffery (PeeWee) Davis, and two grandsons, Jacob Bryant and Ki-ari Wright.
Keith was a 1978 graduate of Eastern Senior High School in Washington, D.C., where he played basketball. Keith was employed in Washington, D.C. as a Maintenance Engineer for two separate apartment complexes.
Keith was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, he loved to sing and give God his praise. With his baritone voice, you could hear him singing often while sitting on his porch and also along with any song that was being played. He would sing a song called "Cool Inside" to his gr...

Barbara Gail Sites Warlitner, 77, of 1240 West Jackson Street died Sunday, December 27, 2020, in Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond. Mrs. Warlitner was born April 19, 1943, in Alleghany County a Daughter of the late Fred Sites and Lucille Fridley Sites Seay. She had retired from Jackson River Internists as a Nurses Aide. She was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a loving and caregiving wife, mother and friend and enjoyed the beach. Roger Cephas Boone, 92, of 204 Boone Rd., died, Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.
Mr. Boone was born April 18, 1928, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Clarence and Gracie Judy Boone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Deacon, and a brother, Raymond Boone.
Roger had retired after 44 years from Westvaco as a Bleaching Chemical Operator. He was a charter member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church. He also served 13 years in the Army Reserve and was an E7 First Sgt. and an expert sharpshooter. He was a graduate of the International Correspondence School for Pulp and Paper. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making beautiful furniture.

Gordon Ralph Hosey, 49, of 2028 S. Arden Ave., died Monday, December 21, 2020, at Lewis Gale- Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. Hosey was born September 17, 1971, in Covington, a son of Martha Ann Sorbara Hosey of Covington, and the late Larry E. Hosey Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Larry E. Hosey Jr. He was employed at Bacova Guild. He was also a member of the Living Word Assembly of God. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Bowen Hosey, a daughter, Stephanie McCummings and husband, Ronnie, a son, Stephen Hosey, two grandchildren Alaric McCummings and Sophie Hosey, his fishing buddy Richard Caldwell and a good friend Glenn Hiner, all of Covington. Meredith Littleton "Bugs" Jennings, Jr., 74, of Jackson River Road died Friday, December 18, 2020, at his daughter's residence. Mr. Jennings was born August 2, 1946, in Covington, a son of the late Meredith L. Jennings, Sr. and Betty Arrington Fitzgerald. Meredith was a veteran of the VietNam War serving two tours with the Seabees in the United States Navy. He retired as a Team Leader on the #5 & #8 paper machines at MeadWestvaco. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and loved riding his Harley Trike with his friends. He was a member of Mt. Charlotte Vint Martin, 84, of Clifton Forge, died, Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Lewis Gale Salem Medical Center. Mrs. Martin was born March 16, 1936 in Alleghany Co. the daughter of the late Norman J. Vint and Pauline Knighton Vint Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hobert H. "Jack" Martin in 2004, and a son James Kitt in 2019. Mrs. Williams was born April 9, 1930 in Augusta County Virginia, the daughter of the late Alfred Boyd Agnor and Susie Viola Smith Agnor.
