Robert Lacy "Baldy" Tucker, Sr., 62, of 600 Montgomery Knob Road died Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Mr. Tucker was born June 30, 1955, in Alleghany County a son of Raymond C. "Jim" Tucker, Sr. and Nadine Bailey Tucker of Covington. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Marie Persinger Tucker, in 2006. Baldy had retired as a machine operator for D.D Kerns Construction Company after a number of years with the company. He was a member of Mountain Valley United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents are two Sons, Robert L. "Ball" Tucker, Jr. and his Wife, April, and Brian Tucker and his Wife, Heather, all of Covington; one Daughter, Sarah Brinkley and her Husband Josh, of Covington; grandchildren, Austin Tucker, Kristen Tucker, Kayleigh Tucker, Kaitlyn Tucker, Nathan Tucker, Kyler Brinkley and L.J. Violet Redman Rose, 94, of 5609 Bens Run Road, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge. She was born November 29, 1922, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Jacob Benson Redman and Etta Pearl Bush Redman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Carl Sizemore in 1971; her second husband, Junior Rose, in 1991, one daughter, Donna Sizemore in 2004; great grandson Michael Gum in 2004 and also by five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Rose was employed by the former Industrial Rayon Corp. for 18 years, When Violet was younger she enjoyed going to the beach with different members of her family. She enjoyed attending church worship services at Highland Chapel Christian Church. Every year she looked forward to going to the Redman family Reunion. Mihala Polk Raleigh, age 59, of 2024 S. Kadel Ave. died Friday, July 21, 2017, at her residence. She born July 18, 1958, in Gainesville FL, to the late Edgar and Pauline Polk. Surviving are her fianc, Albert Carpenter, of Covington, two sons, Richard Raleigh of Covington and Mason Raleigh and is fianc, Brandy Richmond, of Covington; step son, J.J. Childress, of Covington and grandson, Bentley Raleigh, of Covington. In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. Willie Homer "Tater" Johnson, 66, died Wednesday July 19, 2017, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Johnson was born October 12, 1950, in Clifton Forge a son of the late Carl and Alberta Burks Johnson. He had retired from the Alleghany County Public Works Department. He was a member of the Iron Gate Baptist Church. Willie was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Washington Redskins. Mr. Tucker was born May 3, 1945, in Botetourt County a son of the late Carl and Catherine Shifflett Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Brother, Richard Tucker. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from MeadWestvaco as a CLO2 plant operator in 2009 after 44 years with the company. Winston Lee Posey, Jr., 72, of 425 W. Indian Valley Road, went home to be with the Lord, July 14, 2017 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born July 15, 1944 in Daytona Beach, Florida, a son of the late Harriett Ramey Posey who died 1966 and Winston L. Posey, Sr. who died in 2008. Mr. Posey retired from CSX Railroad. Lee Wayne Holloway, 75 , of 310 S. Main Street, died, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born April 13, 1942 in Covington, a son of the late Ralph N. and Elizabeth Davis Holloway. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy A. Sharp and a brother Sherman N. Holloway, Sr. Mr. Holloway served his country with United States Army. He retired in 2009 as a Trackman with CSX after 29 years of service. He was a Charter Member of Concerned Christian Baptist Church where had served as a Deacon; was a member of the Men's Fellowship; Adult Choir and the Nursing Home Ministries. He was active in the Straight Street Ministries and was a member Watson High School Alumni. He was born September 24, 1927, in Monroe County, West Virginia, a son of the late Henry T. and Lettie Mayhan Schumaker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cody Schumaker, Ben Schumaker, James Schumaker and Hunter Schumaker; four sisters, Pauline Baker, Clarice Shaffer, Virginia Daugherty and Nettie Martin. Mr. Schumaker retired from the former Hercules, Inc. and had been employed with Pave N Save for several years. He attended Palestine Chapel. Mr. Warden was born April 27, 1956 in Roanoke Va., the son of the late Lloyd and Ruby Wright Warden. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Gunter Warden, one sister Pansy Caldwell, and one brother Frank Warden.
