Edward

Malcom Edward Cadd, 82, of 1206 East Dolly Ann Drive died Sunday, June 26, 2016, in Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Mr. Cadd was born December 12, 1933, in Covington a son of the late Walter and Ida Blankenship Cadd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Barbara Moats Cadd in 2013, and also by infant twin sisters. He had retired from the U.S Air Force in 1972 as a Staff Sergeant First Class. He was a former machine operator with Hercules, Inc. and had retired from Honeywell International, Inc. at Hopewell. Malcom was a longtime member of the Curtis A. Smith Post #1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Don Edward Wright, age 77, of Covington passed away Monday June 20, 2016 in The Veteran's Medical Center Salem. He was born May 22, 1939 in Garrett KY, He was the son of late Ralph and Juanita Denny Wright. Also preceded in death a daughter Joyce W. McClung, and a brother James Wright. Mr. Wright served during Vietnam and was in the United States Army for 17 years. Surviving are his wife Golden Craft Wright, a son James "Jay" Wright of Covington, two daughters Patricia "Sue" Baker and husband Luke of Fairlawn, VA and Teresa Lockard and husband Pat of LA Vergne TN. 5 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and also one brother Robert Wright of Garrett Ky. The funeral service will be Saturday June 25, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Fisher officiating. Interment will be made Alleghany Memorial Park. Kathy Renee Bess, 57, formerly of Decatur, GA, died Monday June 20, 2016. Miss Bess was born November 9, 1958 in Alleghany County the daughter of the Lena Brown Bess and the late Melvin Stanley Bess. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by two half-brother Norman bess and Ryland Bess and one half-sister Thelma Korman She worked as an attorney for years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed reading books, watching movies, and traveling, but above all she loved her mother the most. In addition to her mother she is survived by a half-sister Charlotte Offerman of Akron, OH, many dear friends including Joe Gold and wife Karen of Savannah, GA, Craig Frankel and wife Janna Eplan-Frankel of Atlanta, GA, and several nieces and nephews. Marvin Smith, 87, departed this earthly life on June 13, 2016. He was born in South Boston Virginia, on November 1, 1928. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his Aunt Mary who raised him, his beloved wife, Eva Jeanne Smith, and a loving daughter, Mildred Vauda Smith. Surviving are two Sons, William Richard Smith and his Wife, Ginger Ellen Smith, and Marvin David Smith, Sr.; one Daughter, Amy Jean Green and her Husband, Timothy Green; twelve grandchildren. Ellen Campbell Tucker, 62 of 2011 Rich Patch Road died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Tucker was born October 5, 1953 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Harvey Lee and Nellie Armentrout Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ricky Payne Tucker, in 2010, two grandchildren and seven sisters and brothers. She was an employee of the former Halmode, Inc. in Covington. Lewis Curtis "L.C." Wickline , 87, of 225 W. Phillip Street, died, Monday June 6, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 19, 1929 in Summers County, West Virginia, a son of the late Garnet Earl Wickline and Clair Ethel Forren Wickline. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wickline was preceded in death by six brothers, Lacy, Arbie, Charles, Lee, Denny and Cotton and three sisters, Evelyn, Veneta and Cleo. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Shirley Bottomly Wickline of Covington; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Margie of Covington; three granddaughters, Molly Smith, Annie Smith and Maggie Smith; one brother, Harlan Wickline and his wife Wanda of Lewisburg, WV and many nieces, nephews and friends. Josephine Thornton Chapman, 87, of 1936 Lee Street, died, Friday, May 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born March 28, 1929 in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Luke and Vianna Harvey Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Chuck" Chapman in 2012 and also by one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and was a member of the Covington Fire Department Auxiliary. Surviving are her son, Ronald C. Chapman of Covington; her devoted caregiver, Doris Lowe of Covington a sister, Geraldine Vass of Covington and several nieces and nephews.
