Lisa Dawn Tucker, 52, of 513 Jonestown Road, died, Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem. Ms. Tucker was born December 11, 1967 in Alleghany County the daughter of Ralph O. and Sarah E. Harris Campbell. She worked as at preparing the food at the K&W Cafeteria. Surviving are a brother Bruce Tucker of Covington, her companion Johnny Dawson, her best friends to include Linda Kemper, Alvin Wright, Debbie & Danny Andrews, David Bowers, Ann and Gary Bowers, Margaret Hepler, and Jimmy Campbell. In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. A service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial donations in Ms. Tucker's name be made to Arritt Funeral Home for final expenses....

Marvin Lorenzo "Birdman" Farewell Sr., 62, of 402 S. Lexington Ave., died, Tuesday February 18, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Farewell was born May 20, 1957 the son of the Charles J. Farewell and the late Rhoda Little Farewell. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a sister Deresa Armstrong, and a brother Tony Farewell.
He worked as a self-employed general contractor and was a member of First Baptist Church on Lexington Ave.
Surviving in addition to his father is his companion Cecelia Moorman Hayhoe of Covington, a daughter Mylinda Farewell of Covington, a son Marvin L. Farewell Jr. of Manassas, five grandchildren: Javon Fadley, Jeremiah Fadley, Justin Fadley Jr. and Damoni Josiah Farewell all of Manassas, and Trayvon Lorenzo Farewell of Front Royal, two sisters Shelia Bailey of NC and Dikia Armstrong, three brothers Ross Farewell, Karl Farewell of GA, Ricky Hunt of FL.
In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated.

PEGGY FRIDLEY Peggy Shires Fridley, 62, of 115 Hotel Lane in Paint Bank died Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the Brian Center Nursing Home in Low Moor. Mrs. Fridley was born March 28, 1957, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Roy and Frances Beverage Shires. She was employed by Craig Botetourt Electric for 28 years. She was a former EMT and member of the Paint Bank Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad where she had served as Treasurer. She was a member of the Highland Chapel Christian Church. Surviving are her Husband, Chris Fridley, of Paint Bank; her Son and Daughter-in-law, , John and Kelli Fridley, of Roanoke; three grandsons, Skyler, Archer and Reed, all of Roanoke; two Sisters, Mary Buckland and her Husband, Donald, of Covington and Shelby Welch of Roanoke and several nieces and nephews. Joyce Vass "Joy" Tingler, 71, of 1010 Apache Court died Friday, February 14, 2020, in the Brian Center Nursing Home at LowMoor. Mrs. Tingler was born in Alleghany County February 21, 1948, a daughter of the late Charles E. Vass, Jr. and Margie Kessinger Vass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Parker L. Tingler, Jr. in 2018 and also by two Sisters, Margie Potter and Patricia Gail Hoke. She was the co-founder and current co-owner of the Car Shop, Inc.. She was a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for over forty years. Floyd Herbert Roberts, 84, of 3501 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020, in Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Mr. Roberts was born June 22, 1935, in Washington, DC, a son of the late Floyd and Catherine Dooley Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one Brother, Tommy Roberts, and two Sisters, Ann Nance and Dr. Margaret Abernathy. He was a retired Detective with the Washington, DC, Police Department. Surviving are his Son, Brett Roberts, of Covington; three Daughters, Christy Lee Hall and her Husband, Steve, of Montpelier, Lauren May McCarthy of Palm County, FL, and Pamela Ray Thompson of Stuart County, FL; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. George Lewis (GL) Jamison Jr. of 123 W. Phillip St, Covington, VA passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Monday, February 10, 2020. Born in Covington VA on June 25, 1932 to the late George Lewis Jamison Sr. and Leola Rose Jamison, he was 87 years of age. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Benny, Russell, Eugene, Murray, and his sister Betty Joyce. George served honorably in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany as a military policeman. After his military service, he attended Appalachian State and graduated with a Bachelors Degree. Later he attended Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a Masters Degree. George taught at Central High School and was Principle at Boiling Springs Elementary School. He owned and operated the J-Mart restaurant and hardware store and enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on the family farm. William Henry "Peck" Persinger, 93, formerly of Ben's Run Rd., died, February 6, 2020 at the Woodlands Nursing Home in Clifton Forge. Mr. Persinger was born November 4, 1926 the son of the late Isaac B. and Phoebe Gaines Persinger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 sisters Catherine Persinger, Mary Frances Persinger, Melvina Ailstock, Annie Switzer, and Nina Persinger; 4 brothers Joe Persinger, Isiah Persinger, Charles Persinger, and Arnold Persinger. Peck was a farmer and a logger, who loved racing, watching and feeding the squirrels and birds. He was known as the Weatherman at the Woodlands. Mrs. Clayton was born July 12, 1973 in Alleghany County the daughter of Jesse W. Lawhorn and the late Wanda Campbell Lawhorn. She was a branch library manager of the Bath County Public Library and was a member of Hot Springs Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she was a member of the book club and liked to go to Garth Newel and the Masonic Theater to listen to music.
