Regina Lynn Tucker Wolfe, 61, of Covington, died, Friday May 27, 2016 at The Woodlands Health and Rehab Center in Clifton Forge. She was born September 20, 1954 in Virginia, a daughter of the late Leonard Earsel and Iva Lee Surratt Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Dean Wolfe in 2006 and also by her brother, Leonard Earsel "Tommy" Tucker, Jr. Lynn was a loan officer with the former WECCU. She was formerly active in Habitat for Humanity; member of the Credit Women International, and was a league bowler for several years. Surviving are her two sons, Derek Wolfe of Adrian, MI and Brandon Wolfe of New York, NY and one granddaughter, Auden Wolfe of Durham, NC. The memorial service will be held Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating. Josephine Thornton Chapman, 87, of 1936 Lee Street, died, Friday, May 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born March 28, 1929 in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Luke and Vianna Harvey Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles "Chuck" Chapman in 2012 and also by one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and was a member of the Covington Fire Department Auxiliary. Surviving are her son, Ronald C. Chapman of Covington; her devoted caregiver, Doris Lowe of Covington a sister, Geraldine Vass of Covington and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating, assisted by the Rev. Chuck Cole. Dwayne Roger Hill, 53, of Arlington and formerly of Covington, died, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Washington, DC. He was born July 13, 1962 in Covington, a son of Carol Ann Rogers Hill of Covington and the late William "Jelly" Hill. In addition to his parents, a sister Desiree "Dee Dee " Carter, nephew, Antonio "Duke" Hill, maternal grandparents, William and Violet Wooding and paternal grandparents Eddie Hill, Sr. and Willie Anna Hill. He was former employee of NRI Staffing in the D.C. area until 2004 when he became disabled. He attended Dabney Lancaster Community College as well as the Northern Virginia Community College and he was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church. Lewis Holland Weeks, 84, of 2212 Dressler Drive, died, Monday May 23, 2016 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born April 21, 1932 in Texas, a son of the late Jim C. Weeks and Daisy Bruce Weeks. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Weeks; seven sisters; one brother and a special friend Aaron Marshall. Mr. Weeks was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. until 1995 and retired in 2014 as a driver for the RADAR bus. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a former elder of the church. He was an avid golfer and his favorite golfer was the famous Phil Mickelson. Lewis was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan and loved going on car rides. Mai Ngoc McKnight, 69, of 304 Woodland Road died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, in Lewis Gale - Salem Hospital. Mrs. McKnight was born January 10, 1947, in Saigon, Vietnam, a daughter of the late Kham Van Tran and Lan Thi Nguyen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Randall O. McKnight, Sr., in March of 2015. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Surviving are three Sons and Daughters-in-law, Randall and Loc McKnight, Jr. of Ashburn, Mark and Anitque McKnight of Remington and Christopher and Kristen McKnight of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren; three Sisters, Hieu Thi Tran of Lowell, MA, Sau Thi Tran and Hanh Thi Tran both of Saigon, Vietnam, a cousin Sussie Baxton of Kansas City, KS, and a number of nieces and nephews. Donald Cuvestus Cole, 85, of 105 Mountaineer Drive died Wednesday morning, May 18, 2016, in Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Mr. Cole was born August 4, 1930, in Greenbrier County, WV, a son of the late Lundy Thomas and Clara Bragg Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Cole, Jr. and Dale Cole and also by two sisters. Don was an active member of the community all of his life. He was the co-owner of the former H & C Auto Parts store in Covington and the owner of the Movie Store and Air Products Co. He was a longtime member of Covington Bible Church. Dorothy Louise Taylor Sink passed from this world into the next on Thursday morning, May 12, surrounded by family and friends at the home of her daughter. She was born in Renick, WV, on October 2, 1926, the fourth child of Henry Charles Taylor and Ula Baker Taylor. Dorothy graduated from Renick High School where she played on the basketball team. After graduating, she moved to Covington and went to work at the Industrial Rayon at the age of 17. She met and married Richard Mason Sink, Sr. and was married for over 62 years before losing Richard to a stroke. She and Richard owned and operated the Rayon Lunch restaurant in the late 50s and early 60s. She also had a beautician license. She was along-time member of South Covington United Methodist Church, an avid gardener, and rummy player. She had a mischievous sense of humor. Rita Sizemore Kasinger, 96, of 602 Hoke Road died Thursday, May 12, 2016. Mrs. Kasimger was born December 8, 1919, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late Anderson and Jessie Hubbard Sizemore. She was preceded in death by her first Husband, Lonnie Hoke; her second Husband, James William Kasinger; four daughters, Mary Meadows, Elizabeth Hoke, Ellen Gail Hoke and Barbara Hoke; two sons, Bobby Hoke and Thomas Hoke; four sisters, Beulah, Ella, Frankie and Birdie; and four brothers, Raymond, John, Jim and Kenny. He was born November 16, 1928 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Charles Guff Hepler and Nora Bennett Hepler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kemper Hepler in 2005; four brothers, James Myers, Tommy Hepler, Wilbur Hepler and Elmer Hepler and one sister, Dorothy Newcomb. Barbara Gail Porterfield Crosier, 70, of Covington, passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday May 8, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. She was born October 11, 1945 at Gap Mills, WV, a daughter of the late Grover and Ethel Clarkson Porterfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger sister, Judy Magrum. Gail graduated from Gap Mills High School in 1963. She began her employment with the Covington National Bank and continued working with the bank for 31 years until her retirement in 2008. Jerry Mills, of 1927 S, Byrd Ave, passed away Monday May 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 13, 1940 in Covington, son of the late John R. and Altha Gibson Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edward Pack Garman and a brother-in-law, Tommy Garman. Mr. Mills retired in 2002 from MeadWestvaco after 44 years of service. He was an assisting baseball coach at Covington High School for 18 years and member of Faith Baptist Church. Benjamin Lanier "Benny" Shires, 75, of 13503 Potts Creek Rd., Paint Bank, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at his residence. He was born May 22, 1940, in Craig County a son of the late Percy Clifford Shires and Sonya Webb Shires. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Rock Shires, in 2006; a son, Benjamin Shires, Jr., four brothers and four sisters. Benny was an avid outdoorsman and became especially excited during bear season.
