Robert Eugene (Bobby) Long, Sr., 71, of Covington, died, Friday, December 19, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born August 14, 1943, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Paul A. and Rosalie Hess Long. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Bush Long, in 2004. Mr. Long served with the Virginia National Guard for over 6 years. Bobby had retired as a Sergeant with the Covington Police Department after 31 years of service. Surviving are his daughter, Chantelle Osbourne and her husband, Bryder, of Covington; his son, Robert Eugene (Robbie) Long, Jr. and wife Tammy of Covington four grandchildren, Onyx Long, Brynel Osbourne, Skylar Long and Robert E. Long III (Tres), all of Covington; one brother, James (Jimmie) Long and his wife, Faye, of Lynchburg; his fianc , Mary Ann Tyree, of Covington ; his brother-in-law, Bill Woodson, and his wife, Debbie, and several nieces and nephews. James Donald Burgess, 79, of 6003 Jackson River Road, died, Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was born February 22, 1935 in Bluefield, WV, a son of the late Warney G. and Edna May Gullion Burgess. Mr. Burgess was a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Wolfe Burgess in 2005 and also by one brother. Carla Wright Weese, 55, of 517 North Rockbridge Ave., began her journey to her eternal place in Heaven on Friday December 12, 2014 from her residence. She was born March 21, 1959 in Kenton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Carl Leo Wright and Shirley Rowe Ferryman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Joseph Ferryman and Carl Leo Wright, Jr. Carla was a member of First Church of God in Christ. Mrs. Williams was born March 26, 1929, in Covington a daughter of the late William Lewis and Margaret Miller Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Ryland L. Williams, in 1993 and also by one sister Geraldine Byrd and a brother Emmett Conner. She was a longtime member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was born March 10, 1920, in Monroe County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Ira Hayes and Nita Baker Wickline . Larry Scott Schoppmeyer, 60, of 105 Pioneer Drive, died, Sunday November 23, 2014 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1954 in Alleghany County, a son of the late John and Glenna Smith Schoppmeyer. Larry was the President of Schoppmeyer Insurance Services of Covington. He was a member of the Covington Kiwanis Club and Mountaineer Athletic Club. Larry was a member of the Edgemont Presbyterian Church. Marcella Elaine Weade, 53, Wichita Falls, Texas and formerly of Covington, died Friday November 21, 2014. She was born May 29, 1961 at Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral, Florida, a daughter of Bill and Mary Brooks Barber of Covington and the late Malcolm E. Weade. Marcella was a graduate of the class of 1979 of Covington High School. She served 8 years in the United States Army, with tours in Japan, Germany and Texas, and also graduated from Army Intelligence School at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. Following her army career she was a graduate of Berea College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Library Science degree. She was a member of Good News Fellowship Church in Covington.
