Patricia Gail Vass Hoke, 61, of 11 Meadow Ridge Drive in Waynesboro died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. Mrs. Hoke was born August 31, 1958, in Lebanon, VA, a daughter of the late Charles Vass, Jr. and Ruth Kessinger Vass. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Hoke, Sr. in 2007, a Son, Dennis Hoke, Jr., and a Sister, Margie Potter. She was employed as a Client Account Manager for Manpower, Inc. Surviving are her Daughter and Son-in-law, Denise and Sammy Feury, of Covington; her Sister, Joy Tingler, of Covington; her Brother, C.E. Vass,III and his wife, Terrie, of Fincastle and three grandchildren, Duell Lee Feury, of Covington, Rica Mae Robles and Destanie A. Hoke, both of Waynesboro and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Murray Arthur Hubbard, Jr., of 2040 Childrens Forest Road went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 25, 2019, from Lewis Gale - Alleghany Hospital at Low Moor. Rev. Hubbard was born October 12, 1928, in Monroe County, West Virginia, a son of the late Murray Hubbard, Sr. and Minnie Mentz Hubbard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Peterson, Virginia Carter and Esther Hubbard and one brother, John Hubbard. He was a retired minister of the Church Of God Of Prophecy and had retired from H. Phil Burks Contracting as a construction foreman skilled in the field of carpentry. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He was an avid fox hunter and a breeder of purebred Walker Fox Hounds and had sold dogs to hunters in 26 states. John Norman Cline, 70, of 167 Grande Road died Wednesday, December 25, 2019, in the University of Virginia Medical Center at Charlottesville. Mr. Cline was born March 28, 1939, in Raleigh County, West Virginia, a son of the late Robert and Genevieve Cline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brandi Cline. He was a retired equipment maintenance employee for D.D. Kerns Construction Co. Scott Richard Andrews, 74, of Covington died Sunday, December 22, 2019, in Lewis Gale Medical Center at Salem. Mr. Andrews was born November 12, 1945, in Scranton, PA, a son of the late Rev. Robert H. Andrews, Sr. and Ruth Keating Andrews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Son, Julian Howard; two Daughters, Linda Howard and Carolyn Dockery; a Brother, Robert H. Andrews, Jr. and a Daughter-in-law, Isabell Howard. 


He had retired from the maintenance department of the Arlington County School System and was a veteran of the Vietnam war with United States Marine Corps. Surviving are his Wife, Patricia Howard Andrews, of Covington; one Son, Anthony Howard, of Stephens City; a Daughter and Son-in-law, Cynthia and Greg Crowder, of Covington; a Sister, Louise Six, of Leesburg; a niece, Sarah Morrissey, of New York and a number of grandchildren.

David Glen "Monkey" Bennett 59, of 6024 Ogles Creek Rd, died Thursday, December 19, 2019, at his residence. He was born June 3, 1960, in Hinton, WV, the son of Ann Johnson Bennett of Covington and the late Arthur Glen Bennett. Mr. Bennett had worked at Walmart and loved watching wildlife and collecting knives. Surviving in addition to his mother, are two sisters, Terri Perkins and her Husband, Wayne, of Catawba, and Lisa Morris and her husband, Eric, of Covington; one niece, Jessica Perkins and a nephew, Seth Perkins, all of Catawba, also surviving Jimmy O'Conner of Covington. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 22, 2019, at 2:00PM at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Curtis Johnson officiating. Ronnie Ryan "Pooh Bear" Richardson, Jr., 40, of 100 Nicholas Drive died Sunday, December 15, 2019, at his home. Mr. Richardson was born July 26, 1979, in Roanoke a son of Pam Prior Hosey of Clifton Forge and the late Ronnie R. Richardson, Sr.. In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his Step-father, Billy Hosey. "Pooh Bear" was former employee of the Dairy Bar in Clifton Forge and Alleghany Health and Rehab. He was a volunteer at Sharon Elementary School. Surviving in addition to his Mother are his Brother, William Richardson, and several nieces and nephews. Virginia Agnes Craghead, 89, of Covington, died Friday, December 6, 2019 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Ms. Craghead was born November 7, 1930 in Covington the daughter of the late Boyce Vinson and Mavie Saunders Craghead. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Arrington, her brothers Thomas Craghead Sr. and Lewis Craghead and a nephew Thomas " Buddy" Craghead Jr. She had retired from Boys Home. She is survived by a sister in law Edna Mae Craghead, six nieces and nephews; Sandra Proctor, Lois Engle, Art Arrington, Tim Arrington, Sylvia VanWorkhoven, and Leigh Worley. Lee

Max Lee Nunley, aged 78, of Covington, VA, passed on November 28, 2019. Max was born in Quinwood, WV on June 13, 1941. He was the son of late Guy W. Nunley and Lorna Orndoff Nunley. Max was a 1959 graduate of Crichton High School in Quinwood, WV, where he played basketball and was an all-state football player. He was recruited by WVU, VT and several other schools for football. He was married to the love of his life, Sue McMillion, in February of 1961, after which, they made their home in Covington, VA, where he was a dedicated employee of AET/Hercules for years. He enjoyed hunting and working in his yard and was an avid reader and aficionado of the Civil War. In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by his wife, Sue McMillion Nunley, a sister, Sheila Nunley Jones, brother-in-law, Elward Jones, and brother-in-law Bulis "Booty" Sexton. Bonnie Frazier Heimbach, 75, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Covington, Va. died on Thursday, November 28, 2019. She was born October 11, 1944, in Covington. She is a daughter of the late Reese and Naomi Alderson Frazier. Mrs. Heimbach graduated from Covington High School and received her Bachelor Degree in Home Economics from East Tennessee State University and a Master's Degree from Penn State University. She lived most of her adult life in Williamsburg, Va., and had a lifelong career as an Extension Agent for the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service. She retired in Leesburg, Fl., where she enjoyed sewing, crafting, cats, volunteer work and helping others. She always had a positive and happy attitude. Lucille Barnett Switzer, 95, of 2610 Valley Ridge Rd., died, Tuesday November 26, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Switzer was born June 5, 1924 in Albemarle County a daughter of the late Jessie L. Barnett and Myrtle E. Barnett Rorrer. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James R. Switzer in 1990, two daughters Sharon Small in 2004, Shelia Reed in 2018, a son Lewis W. Switzer in 1952, a sister Maude Gibson in 1996, and two brothers Mason Barnett and Dan Rorrer. She worked at the Rayon Plant from 1942-1945. She loved to cook, garden, crocheting, and babysitting and raising kids.
