Rosemary Simpson Curry, 78, of 2505 Midland Trail, died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at her residence. She was born May 12, 1940 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Lee Edward Simpson, Sr. and Maggie Hepler Simpson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ira C. Curry in 2009 and also by two brothers, Jack L. Simpson, Jr. and John Simpson. Mrs. Curry retired as an Administer from the former Alleghany Regional Hospital after a number of years. Following her retirement she was employed by Advance Auto. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and J.B. Broughman of Eagle Rock; three sons, Mitchell Curry and Janet Walton of Covington; Kenny and Andrea Curry of eagle Rock and James Curry and wife Pam of Youngstown, FL; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother Morgan D. Cynthia Marie Fridley, 65, of 100 Nicholas Dr., died Saturday June 9, 2018 at Lewis Gale Alleghany in Low Moor. Mrs. Fridley was born September 6, 1952 the daughter of the late William E. and Helen E. Bowles Leech. She was also preceded in death by a brother William Leech. Cynthia was a loving mother and wife and outside of the home she enjoyed fishing and camping. Surviving are her husband Richard G. Fridley Sr. a daughter Teresa Fridley, a son Richard G. Fridley Jr., all of Clifton Forge, a brother Nathan Leech of Covington. In keeping with her wishes her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Thursday June 14, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Edith Snedegar officiating. Debra Lee "Debbie" Bland, 66, of 314 Rogers Road, died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Lewis gale Alleghany in Low Moor. She was born December 2, 1951 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Gordon and Louise Tucker Bland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert Bland and a brother-in-law, Richard "Mike" Mundy. Debbie was formerly a shift manager at McDonald's Restaurant in Covington. She was a member of First Christian Church She loved her fur babies as well as reading and crocheting. George Carlos Green, 79, of 704 North Pocahontas Avenue died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Green was born August 20, 1938, in Roanoke a son of the late Edward and Wealthy Boinett Green. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Green, Paul Green and Leonard Green and a nephew, John "John Boy" Green, Jr. George was a truck driver for over 40 years with the former Jennings & Webb Co. and had retired from TCI, Inc. He loved spending time outdoors with his loyal pup, Duke. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. Stanford Joseph Wolfe, 87, of 107 Parsonage Lane, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1931, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Leffel Bud Wolfe and Dora Jamison Wolfe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Son, Jay Wolfe, in 2002; his Step-Mother, Julia Tingler Wolfe; five Brothers, Berlin Wolfe, Page Wolfe, Paris Wolfe, Grover Wolfe and Gerald Wolfe and two Sisters, Ruby Tingler and Izetta Nida. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He had retired in 2000 from the Alleghany County School Board Maintenance Department after 42 years of service. He was a longtime member of Highland Chapel Christian Church. Curtis Raymond Linton, 68, of Paint Bank died Saturday June 2, 2018, in Lewis-Gale Medical Center at Salem. Mr. Linton was born June 8, 1949, in Covington a son of the late Vernon G. Linton and Fleda Vaught Linton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Hinton, in 1997. He retired in 2012 from Westrock as assistant operator on #2 paper machine after 43 years with the company. He was a member of the Humphries Chapel United Methodist Church, a Virginia Tech Fan, an avid golfer and hunter for many years. She was born July 24, 1913 in Peoria, Indiana, a daughter of the late Robert Bennett and Orpha Massie Deaver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Humphries in 1980 and by five siblings, Ola Bennett, Nola Bennett, Ocie Lee Bennett, William R. Bennett and Lola Bennett. Mrs. Humphries was a clerk with the former Montgomery Ward in Covington. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Deaver of Summersville,WV.
