Anna Schulz Koehnke, 90, of Covington and formerly of Moriah Center, NY, passed away Tuesday August 15, 2017 at the Brian Center in Low Moor. She was born September 19, 1926 in Cuxhaven, Germany, a daughter of the late Julius Hinrich Amandus Schulz and Anna Christina Mahler Schulz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Peter Koehnke; a sister Matilde Schoel and a brother Werner Schulz. Mrs. Koehnke immigrated from Germany after World War II. She was a former Assistant Administrator at the Montessori School in Annadale, VA . Mrs. Koehnke was a member of Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church Port Henry, NY. For a number of years she operated a Day Care Center from her home. Martha Lewis Wilkerson, 83, of 4403 Dunlap Creek Road, died, Monday, August 14, 2017, at Lewis Gale- Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. She was born August 22, 1933, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Lee and Edith Birley Lewis. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Wilkerson, in 2014 and also by 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of the former Dunlap Creek Home Demonstration Club, a founding member of the former Dunlap Creek 4-H Club, a member of the Rainbow Garden Club and a Lifetime member of Palestine Presbyterian Chapel where she served as an Elder and Sunday School Superintendent. Kendall Lee Dolan, 60, of Covington passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1957 a son of the late Harold Russell and Mary Lemon Dolan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Reynolds Dolan and a brother Harold Michael Dolan. Kendall was retired from Westrock as an Operations Specialist on the # 2 Paper Machine after 33 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved spending time on Peter's Mountain and at the Bear Walla Hunt Club where he was a lifelong member and treasurer for the club. Kendall was clearly treasured by many and will be greatly missed. Jimmy Lee Moorhead, 76, of 214 Dusty's Road, died, Sunday, August 13, 2017. He was born June 25, 1941 in Zuni, New Mexico, a son of the late Leslie and Authulla McGowen Moorhead. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Moorhead and by three sisters, Nina Valdez, Wanda Needels and an infant sister. Mr. Moorhead served his country with the United States Army. He was formerly employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for Foster Farms. He was a member of Good News Church. In his free time he loved to go fishing, drink coffee and eat ice cream. Gerald Eugene "Jerry" Blankenship, 75, of 205 E. Oak Street died Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Lewis Gale Medical Center at Salem. Mr. Blankenship was born May 23, 1942, in Alleghany County a son of late Charles Mason Meadows and Mildred Blankenship Meadows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Brother, David Meadows. He had retired as a dispatcher with the Covington Fire Department after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Johnson Creek ARP Church. Jerry enjoyed fishing and going to the Lumberjacks baseball games. Wesley Monroe Keith, 70, of 5210 Indian Draft Rd., died, Friday August 11, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Keith was born April 15, 1947 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Glenn and Jeanette Gadd Keith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Johnson Keith, in 2010 and a Son-in-law, James Shinault, in 2015. Wesley had retired as an Equipment Operator for the AA Conner Construction Company in Roanoke. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War with the U. S. Army. Karen Elaine Hall, 52, of Dolly Ann Apartments died Thursday, August 10, 2017, at her residence. She was born June 1, 1965, in Alleghany County a daughter of Roy E. "Pepper" Hall, Jr. of Covington and the late Janice Faye Damewood Hall. She was a member of the Good News Church and enjoyed crafting, painting, crocheting and trying new recipes in her kitchen. She had worked at the former Sports Center and The Shoe Box store in Covington. Pamela Bennington McCormack, of 1427 S. Carolton Drive, died Wednesday August 9, 2017 at her residence. She was born June 23, 1955 in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late Raymond K. and Ruth Jean Kent Bennington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill McCormack and a sister-in-law, Gwen Lindsey. Pam was member of the last graduating class of Madison College in Harrsionburg, now known as JMU. She was Teacher for 27 years, retiring in 2014 from City of Covington School System. Pam was an active member of Granbery Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Adult Choir,the Circle of the Church and the Outreach Program.
