Delano Haywood Waldron, 70, of Wrightsville in Covington, died, Saturday June 24 2017, in Alleghany Heath & Rehabilitation in Clifton Forge. Mr. Waldron was born February 21, 1947 in Covington, he was son of the late Edward N. and Beatrice Brown Waldron. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Lewis Waldron, Nathaniel Waldron, Gilbert Waldron, and Alphonsa Waldron and one sister Bernice Dooley. Delano worked at Best Western hotel for a number of years. Surviving are one brother Albert T. Waldron of Covington, one sister Yvonne Young of New Jersey, and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Friday June 30, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to the service Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Velma Ruth Britt "Toodle" Stull, 91, of 1407 Cardinal Drive, Selma, died, Tuesday June 20, 2017 at her residence.
She was born February 16, 1926 in Fincastle, a daughter of the late Frank Britt and Ethel Lee Britt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Stanford Stull in 2000; her son Dennis Stull; step son Ray Stull and eight brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Stull was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp and had retired from the former Hercules, Inc. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She had a love for Gardening as well as her grandchildren, who she kept as they were growing up. Mrs. Stull enjoyed playing card games like Rook and Canasta and was an Atlanta Braves Fan.

Peggy Cook Brookman, 56, of 6102 Potts Creek Rd., died, Sunday June 18, 2017, at her residence. She was born July 10, 1960, a daughter of Larre Walton Cook of Covington and the late John Albert Cook, Sr. Mrs. Brookman was a member of the Mill Branch Church of God of Prophecy. Rosemary Wright Craft, 91, of Rich Patch, died Monday, June 12, 2017, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem with her son by her side. Mrs. Craft was born May 26, 1926 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Jay P. and Maude Robinson Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband, John William Craft, Jr, on March 3 of this year, a Son, William Eugene "Gene" Craft, in 2005, a Daughter, Linda Renee Craft, in 2013, a sister, Shirley Bess, two brothers, Jay Wright and Ray Wright. Jerry Whitley Allard, 68, of 2800 Schoolhouse Road died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Allard was born May 21, 1949, in Norfolk a son of the late Garland W. and Lizzie Morris Allard. Phillip Justin Meadows, 33, of 5712 Indian Draft Road died Friday, June 9, 2017. Mr. Meadows was born April 2, 1984, in Alleghany County a son of Steve and Leslie Perkins Meadows. He was a decorated war veteran with a number of medals in the United States Army during the Iraq and Kuwait theatres. Justin was an avid outdoorsman and loving father. Wardie Odell Brookman, 93, of 4409 Potts Creek Rd., died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1923 in Craig County a son of the late Arthur and Effie Lee Wolfe Brookman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brookman was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Campbell Brookman on March 30, 2017; two sons, Ronnie O. Shirley Oyler Harouff, 83, of 219 East Phillip Street died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Harouff was born August 10, 1934, in Covington a daughter of the late George F. and Ethel Woodson Oyler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her Husband William Harouff in 2012, and two brothers, Ralph Oyler and Oscar Oyler, and one sister, Lillie Oyler. She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church and Ladies Circle #2. Surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Betty Oyler of Covington; her sister Barbara Tyree if Covington and several nieces and nephews.
