Sharon Denise Johnson, 53, of 334 East Cherry Street died Monday, July 23, 2018, at her home. Miss Johnson was born March 18, 1965, in Clifton Forge a daughter of the late Edward and Lucy Mae Crawford Johnson. She was an employee of the former Kroger store in Covington and a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are five Sisters, Amelia Johnson, Melissa Johnson and Phyllis Johnson, all of Covington, Glenda Johnson and Diane Johnson both of Roanoke; four Brothers, Dwayne Johnson and James Johnson both of Covington Edward Johnson of Roanoke, and Russell Johnson and his wife, Rosa, of Millboro and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 27, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Cannon officiating. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Anna Mae Woods Dierschow, 75, of 230 Bowmans Run Drive in Stuarts Draft, died, Friday, July 6, 2018, in the Hospice of Shenandoah. Mrs. Dierschow was born October 10, 1942, in Hot Springs a daughter of the late Jennings Ledford Woods and Sylvia Mae Leary Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second Husband, Henry W. Baker, in 2003, and a brother, Kyle Woods. She had retired in 2003 after several years as a Deputy Sherriff with the Bath County Sherriff's Department. She was former member of the Traveling Retreads Motorcycle Club. Charles Joseph "Joe" Deane, Jr., 61, of Dolly Ann Apartments, died, Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at his residence. Joe was born December 18, 1956, in Alleghany County, a son of Charles J. Deane, Sr. and Margaret Owens Deane. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors and loved photography. In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by a son, Charles J. Deane, III, of Salem; three grandchildren; his sister, Catherine Deane, of Bridgewater; his brother, John Deane and his wife, Cheri, of Reidsville, NC, and two nieces. His body has been cremated. Ronald Leroy Potter, 82, of 300 Lacks Avenue died Friday, June 29, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Potter was born March 8, 1936, in Alleghany County a son of the late A.B. Potter and Myrtle Lawler Potter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife, Joyce Rhodes Potter in 2015; his Son, Ronnie Potter, Jr.; one Brother, William Potter, and two Sisters, Shirley Simpson and Helen Layne. He was an employee of the former Industrial Rayon Corp in Covington and had retired from Hercules, Inc.. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and Covington Lodge #610, Loyal Order of Moose. Surviving are two Daughters, Robin Duncan and Julie Lawson, both of Covington; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; one Sister, Marlene Rhodes, several nieces and nephews and his "fur baby", Sophie. Rosemary Bailey Persinger, 72, of 3010 Valley Ridge Rd., died Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Persinger was a former resident of Charleston, WV. She was born November 14, 1945, in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Isabel Powers Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Bailey. She was a retired Court Recorder for the Kanawha County Court in Charleston, WV. She was active in Special Olympics and was always an advocate for special needs childen. Nellie Wolfe Weikle, 88, died June 26, 2018, in Maryland. She was born February 24, 1930, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late James Henry Lee Wolfe and Ruthie Ann Elizabeth Fridley Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first Husband, Raymond Wolfe; her second Husband, Hampton W. Weikle; a son, Gary Wolfe; grandson, Tim Childers; great grandson, Tim Childers, Jr. and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Weikle had retired as a book binder for Eagle Press. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deale, MD. She always enjoyed reading the Bible and loving on her grandchildren. Patrick Dewey Crowder, 76, Covington, died, Sunday June 24, 2018 at Carrington Cottage in Daleville, VA. He was born March 9, 1942 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Henry Dewey Crowder and Ida Crowder Crowder. Mr. Crowder retired in 2009 from Northrop Grumman as an Engineer after being with the company for 48 years. He was a member of Pinnell United Methodist Church. Dorothy Benson "Dottie" Reynolds, 77, of 6412-R Ogles Creek Road died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Lewis Gale - Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mrs. Reynolds was born August 4, 1940, in Covington a daughter of the late Robert E. and Vivian Forbes Benson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, William E. "Gene" Reynolds, two brothers, Tommy Benson and Walter Benson, one sister, Laura Benson and a grandson, Travis West. Dottie had retired as a medicine technician at the former Tanglewood Manor Adult Care in Callaghan. She was a member of the United Baptist Church on Ogles Creek where she was a fond of the Youth Group.
