Linda Salyers Alfier, 75, of 310 E. Prospect St., died, Friday June 17, 2022, in Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. Mrs. Alfier was born January 8, 1947, in Bath County a daughter of the late John H. Salyers and Lila Swoop Salyers. She played the piano and choir director for Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for a number of years. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Stephanie Morganti of North Canton, OH.; three grandchildren, Tyler Burch, Lucas Morganti and Sophia Morganti, and very special friend Warren "Chip" Lockridge. Brenda Tingler Humphries, 77, of 3504 Jamison Mountain Rd., died, on Monday June 13, 2022, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mrs. Humphries was born on November 20, 1944, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late James Frank and Mabel Irene Redman Tingler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wade Lee Humphries in 2014, a daughter Debbie Dudley, a daughter in law Debbie Humphries, four Sisters, Darlene Givens, Velma Tingler, Arnetta Hicks, and Carol McCulley one Brother, Benson Tingler. She was a caregiver who enjoyed family reunions, drinking coffee, watching tv, and her chickens. Arturo Villaflor Agbo, 61, of 134 Old Greenhouse Rd., Hot Springs, died, Wednesday June 8, 2022, at Bath Co. Community Hospital. Mr. Agbo was born March 3, 1961, in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of the late Adelina Villaflor Agbo and Teodoro Agbo Sr. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jun Villaflor and Alberto Agbo. Surviving are his three sons, Raphanthoy Agbo of Hot Springs, Arturo E. Agbo, Jr., and his wife Mary Grace of New Jersey, and Kenneth and Levy Agbo of Hot Springs; along with two grandchildren, Kara Jean Beatrice, and Marley Adeline. Golden Craft Wright, 82 of Covington, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Golden was born October 21, 1939, in Rock Fork, Kentucky and was the daughter of late, Ora and Mary Bell Tharp Craft. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Judy Gallew Williams, 75, of 306 Dairy St., died, Monday June 6, 2022, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mrs. Williams was born on October 13, 1946, in Virginia a daughter of the late Robert E. Sr. and Bessie Hite Gallew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. "Bo" Williams Sr. in 2018; a son Thomas A. Williams Jr. in 2015; two sisters Carolyn Sue Gallew in 2022 and Patricia Kilby; and a son in law Tony Raffo. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed crafting, collecting cookbooks, cooking, singing, thrift stores, and listening to gospel music. Verlie Craft, 86, of 1404 Donovan St. Selma, died, Saturday June 4, 2022, in the Virginia Veteran Care Center in Roanoke. Mr. Craft was born on January 8, 1936, in Kentucky a son of the late Ora and Mary Tharp Craft. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Brenda Hosey Craft in 2020; two sisters Amy Robinson and Ellera; three brothers Joe Craft, Virgil Craft, and Chester Craft. He was in the United States Navy for 20 years serving during Vietnam. He was a member of Midway Christian Church and a heavy equipment mechanic. Norman Persinger Sr. Norman Lewis Persinger Sr., 80, of 441 Winding Way, died, Tuesday May 31, 2022, at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. Persinger was born on April 10, 1942, in Alleghany County a son of the late Jesse L. and Helen Clark Smith Persinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2019 Nancy Drepperd Persinger; a daughter Wendy Leigh Persinger; and a brother Donald R. Persinger. He served in the United State Navy and had retired from the #2 Paper Machine at MeadWestVaco. He was a member of Mallow Presbyterian Church and was an avid hunter. Surviving are his son Todd Persinger of Salem; a sister Rosa Lee Bartley of Covington; two sister in laws Thelma Falls and Betty Munsey; and a number of nieces and nephews. Charles Allen White, 73, of Covington, passed away Monday May 30, 2022, at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond. Mr. White was born on January 11, 1949, in Alleghany County, a son of the late Stewart and Tassie White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert White and Fianc Linda Crawley. Brandon Lee Thornton, 23, formerly of Eagle Rock, passed away on May 18, 2022, at the Reid Health Hospital in Connersville, IN. Mr. Thornton was born on October 6, 1998, in Roanoke a son of Charles Lee Hipes and Billie Jo Thornton. In keeping with his wishes his body has been cremated. Surviving are in addition to his parents his step mother Tiffanie Hipes; two brothers Lucas Hipes and Trey Baugess; a sister Gabrielle Vogt; a Maternal Grandmother Doris Thornton; his paternal grandparents Charlie Hipes and wife Kelly; an aunt Lori Thornton; and a number of cousins. Robert Roscoe Campbell Jr., 86 of 1304 Potts Creek Rd., died, Monday May 16, 2022, at the Brian Center Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Low Moor. Mr. Campbell was born on July 11, 1935, in Alleghany County the son of the late Robert R. Campbell Sr. and Beulah Atkins Campbell. He retired after 41 years from Westvaco in the Bleach Department. He was a member of the Parrish Court United Methodist Church where he was part of the Mens Fellowship and Choir. He was a charter member of the Boiling Spring Fire and Rescue, and with the Virginia National Guard. He enjoyed camping as well as listen to music. Ronald Gene Arritt passed away at his home on May 15, 2022 after a long and courageous health battle. He was born in 1932 to Roy and Reva Boone Arritt. He spent his entire life in Covington, Virginia. Ron had a passion for many things: his work, golf, and mostly his family. He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher,deacon, treasurer, and an elder. In his later years he attended Highland Chapel Christain Church where his dear friend J.B Broughman served as pastor. Ron was married to Edith Arritt for 62 years. Ron served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the USS Midway as a medic. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He worked as an accountant at R.L. Persinger, after which he served as assistant administrator/finance at Bath County Hospital.
