Clara Wolfe Smith, 79 , of 516 Bird Farm Road, died, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 22, 1936 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Benny and Annie Bess Wolfe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. Smith in 1990; one great grandson Daniel Owen Taylor, one sister Susie Banker and an infant brother. Clara and Lloyd would have shared their 61 Wedding Anniversary on May 1, 2015 and now they will be together in Heaven. Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Smith of Williamsburg and Tracy Wolfe and her husband Stanley of Fernandina Beach, FL; three sons, Lloyd Smith, Jr. of Buena Vista; Danny Smith and his wife Jessie and Steven Smith and Raymona Bowles all of Covington; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Ben Wolfe of Clifton Forge and Floyd Wolfe and his wife, Alta of Covington; several nieces and nephews, including Corinna Banker. Phyllis Carroll Bradshaw, 74, of Covington, passed this life on Monday April 27, 2015. She was born December 10, 1940 in Alleghany County, a daughter of Rebecca C. Bradshaw of Covington and the late Richard R. Bradshaw. In addition to her parents Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother-in - law, Robert Scott, Jr. In addition to her mother she is survived by one sister, Linda B. Scott of Covington; two brothers, Eugene Bradshaw and his wife Carol and Leo Bradshaw and his wife Ada, all of Covington and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday April 30, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor Delores Pulliam officiating. The interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery. The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time on Thursday at Arritt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Boiling Spring Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad, 5407 Potts Creek Rd., Covington, VA 24426.

Mary Ellen Stone Quick, 63, of 1203 Staunton St. in Selma, died Wednesday April 22, 2015 at Lewis- Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was born August 22, 1951 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Ned W. Stone and Evelyn Cater Stone. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Quick was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Bobby" Wolfe; two sisters Joan Vess, and Carol Fabre. She was employed by Alleghany Public School Systems as a bus driver. She was affectionately known to children as "Ga". Mary Catherine Craft Humphries Reynolds, 91, of 5315 Hayes Gap Road, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 13, 2015 at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Reynolds was born March 3, 1924 in Craig County, a daughter of the late James Phillip and Ada Florence Humphries Craft. Barbara Lee Womack Thompson, 84, of 216 Gordon Street, died, Monday April 13 2015 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. Mrs. Thompson was born March 25, 1931, in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late George G. Womack and Louise Cheatham Womack White, In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, James Thompson, a grandson, Adam Kocheran and a sister Phyllis Collins. Mrs. Thompson was a retired Clerk from the former Kroger Inc. in Covington. She was a very active member of the Edgemont ARP Church. Barbara will be missed by all who knew her. William Howard "Bill" Hepler, 87, of Paint Bank, died, Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Veterans Medical Center in Salem. Mr. Hepler was born April 20, 1927 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Harvey Lee and Mary Reynolds Hepler. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife, Nora Darlene Crowder Helper in 1996; a daughter Frances Hepler in 2007 and also by six brothers and three sisters. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hepler retired as a foreman with the Robertson Construction Company in Roanoke. Barbara Jean Trout, 51, of 2412 Hot Springs Rd., died, Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital. She was born November 29, 1963 in Indiana, PA, a daughter of Joann Fedor Trout of Covington and the late Norman Russell Trout. Barbara was the former owner of the Picnic Basket in Covington and the Tea Room Restaurant in Clifton Forge. She was very a very talented artist and enjoyed making jewelry, baskets and stained glass. She was born October 2, 1936 in Covington, a daughter of the late Marvin Gibson and Mary Elizabeth Meadows. In addition to her parents, Sissy was preceded in death by her step mother, Polly Gibson, a daughter, Carol Arrington in 2001 ; two brothers, Mark Gibson, and J.W. James Howard Parker, Sr., 72 of Covington, died, Saturday, March 28, 2015. He was born April 17, 1942 in Talcott, WV, a son of the late Theodore Kyle Parker and Hilda Allen Parker Simms. Mr. Parker served with the United Sates Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an employee of the former Hercules Inc. Plant in Covington and retired in 2004 from AET Corporation after 40 years of total service. He was a member and former officer of Local 884. He was a benefactor member of the NRA. Mrs. Whitehead was born July 18, 1936, in Hot Springs a Daughter of the late Rodney and Mamie Cauley Deaner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Glenn Whitehead, in 2010, her Daughter, Terry Shelton, in 2006, two sisters, Dot Dodson and Irene Shifflett and two brothers, Johnny Deaner and Wink Deaner. He was born March 30, 1944 in Covington, a son of the late Willie J. McKnight and Gertrude Bell McKnight. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
