Edna Edith Cole Bennett, 97, of 418 Brentwood Drive in Covington, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at her home.
Mrs. Bennett was born December 24, 1920, at Jumping Branch, WV, a daughter of the late Elbert and Eunice Mooney Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Eldwin Bennett, one Son, Warren Cole, one Grandson, Mike Cole, one Granddaughter, Stephanie Reed Creasy, two Sons-in-law, Tony Grimmett and Doug Reed.
She had retired as a clerk and bookkeeper for the former A&P Grocery Store She was a longtime member of the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, tending her flowers, reading, crossword puzzles and the love of her family.

Diana Minter Booth, 58, of 106 Hidden Valley Road died Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. Mrs. Booth was born August 9, 1959, in Charlottesville, a daughter of the late Lewis and Louise Smith. Surviving are her Husband, Troy Booth of Covington; two Daughters, Joyce Brown and Denise Smith, both of Charlottesville; one Son, Kevin Smith, of Charlottesville; five sisters, Jeanette Pindell, Mary Minter and Doris Smith, off of Charlottesville; Deloris Smith of Orlando, FL and Della Smith of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, James Brown and Louis Smith, Jr. both of Charlottesville; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends. Gary Franklin Wood, 72, of Strasburg, VA and formerly of Covington, passed away Monday February 19, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Wood was born in Summers County , WV on November 19, 1945, a son of the late Diamond Alton and Jewel Evelyn garrison Wood. He was a retired operator with General Chemical; attended Strasburg United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife Goldie Anna Harvey Wood of Strasburg; his two daughters, Kari L. Wood and Tracie D. Wood, both of Strasburg. A funeral service for Mr. Wood will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Strasbug United Methodist Church with Rev. John Haynes, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in St Stephens Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. Claudine Martin Pritt, of 810 Pocahontas Ave., died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Lewis Gale -Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. She was born February 14, 1934 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Paul and Maggie Lena Bess Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Pritt, in 1980 and a daughter, Kathy P. Callahan, in 2017. Mrs. Pritt was a former employee of the Omni Homestead in the House Keeping Department. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Damian Reece Hiatt, 23, of Clifton Forge, died Monday, February 12, 2018 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born July 23, 1994 in Delaware, a son of Shawn Hiatt and wife Charlene of California and April Hall Wratz and her husband Matthew of Shakopee, MN. Damian was employed by the Virginia Army National Guard. Raymond Arthur "Boodie" McKnight, 23, of 303 South Marion Avenue died Monday, February 12, 2018, at Lewis Gale - Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor. Mr. McKnight was born November 21, 1994, in Alleghany County a son of Kathy M. Harris of Covington and the late Raymond Tyrone McKnight. In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Warren F. Harris, Sr., and his Paternal Grandparents, Willie J. and Gertrude Bell McKnight and three Uncles, Randall McKnight, Sr., Lewis P. Venable, Jr. and Gregory Waddy Sr. He was a graduate of Covington High School where he was a member of the band and choir. He was employed by Jackson River Enterprises. Doris Marie Knighton Redman Entsminger, 92, formerly of Covington passed away peacefully in Greensboro, NC on February 12, 2018. Mrs. Entsminger was born October 13, 1925 in Low Moor and resided in Covington until moving to North Carolina where she lived with her daughter Judy and her son-in-law Clifford. Doris is the daughter of the late Wilbur Knighton and Nettie Booth Knighton. She was also preceded in death by her husband's Samuel H. Redman and Ralph L. Entsminger, and her brother Stuart Knighton. Doris was a loving mother and grandmother who took great pains to make sure that everyone in her family felt loved and appreciated. Mr. Jones was born September 1, 1937, in Alleghany County a son of the late Okey Kenneth "Ted" Jones and Margie Irene Campbell Jones. He was employed by the Alleghany County School System as a bus driver for many years and also helped Leonard Nida with excavating work. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding horses. Garlen Harry "Monk" Snyder, 78, formerly of Lost City, WV, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Covington. Mr. Snyder was born October 10, 1939, in Alleghany County a son of the late Harry C. and Frances McDaniel Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Arlen Snyder, two sisters, Charlotte Redman and Evelyn Wright, and one half-sister, Goldie Montgomery. He had retired from Rocko Processing and also worked as a carpenter and had enjoyed fishing and hunting his entire life. Miriam Goodwin Anshutz, 93, died Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Brian Center Nursing Care in Low Moor. Mrs. Anshuntz was a former resident of Blue Spring Run Road for many years.
She was born May 16, 1924, in Alleghany County a Daughter of the late Orley Emmett Goodwin and Selena May Long Goodwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Thomas Eugene Anshutz, in 2011 and by her Son, Timothy Anshutz.
She is survived by her caregivers, Kenneth and Sue McClung of Covington.
In accordance with her wishes, her body has been donated to medical science.
